No Desktop

For a bud:

2. Now when I start my computer the C:\ directory thing comes up or something instead of my desktop. It's like looking at My Computer or something. No idea why that happens. What can I do?

Hi Sarge, pillianp, & all

I seem to remember a virus that can cause this one. See if anything comes up with a scan from a bootable antivirus CD & the latest virus definitions on a write-protected floppy (or two).

That seems to be the mostly likely explanation. But you could put a shortcut to My Computer in the Startup folder & have the same symptom - but why would anyone want to do that. . .

Best of luck
. . . Gary

[. . . there may have been another bug for this problem, but I'll be darned if I can find it just now . . .]
