Boom installing Win 98 problems

I'm attempting my first computer build. Followed the instructions on this web site. Assembly was pretty easy. Installing Windows 98 is not so easy. Booted from A: drive with a system disk. Ran the Win 98 cd. The initial windows screen comes up then it goes to a black screen with the message:
WHILE INITIALIZING DEVICE NDIS:
WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR. YOU NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER"
If I attempt to restart in normal mode it repeats the same message. I am only able to start in Safe Mode.
HELP!

Intel D845PEBT2 mother board
Intel P4 processor
Lite On 48 x 12 x 48 CD/RW drive
Radeon 7500 video card
512 mb memory
WD 80 GB hard Drive

That sure sounds like it could be your problem, how fast is that P4 your running there? Your going to have to slow it down if it's faster than 2.2, to see if that corrects that NDIS failure. Just enter the BIOS and advanced chipset settings is usually where U find the bus speed settings. Slow it down a bit to get that cpu under 2.2 and see if it'll boot...
Good Find there Mike!!!
