I think this was it!!
I recently worked on this ladys computer, and her computer was running horribly slow...and I couldnt figure out why, she had a P4 1.9ghz and 256megs of RAM, and I couldnt figure out why it was performing so poorly...I think it was because she had 3 different XP accounts, and I think they were all logged on...cause I just recently made an account for my dad, and all of a sudden my computer starting losing a step...So I check around, and I saw hat my dad was still logged on, so I logged him off, and then logged back under my account, and it seems to be performing at its normal efficiancy...this lady had multiple apps in her start up menu, and 3 different accounts logged on...could this be what was causing the horrible performance??
Thanks for the info ![]() avx

I use windows XP pro and have no problems with multiple users on at the same time. I am running a P3 450 with 768MB of ram. I don't know exactly how demanding XP is of ram but it seams that it could be the issue with your slow computer.

It's not having 3 users logged in at the same time, but how many programs each user has open.
I often start one account and run an app, then open a second account to do normal surfing and stuff. If I switch back, and open 3 or 4 more apps, then everything starts to slow down. I would think that with only 256 meg, the swap file was probably getting used excessively, and that would slow things down as well. |

yea as trent steel pointed out, he has a good amount of RAM and therefore he is probably able to run more apps at one time than someone with 256 MB. Time for an upgrade if that is whats bothering you!

If it's a Windows 2000, or XP, you may like to check out the Performance monitor, to see what's exactly is the bottleneck.
