Windows 2k won't boot

My friend has a Gateway Celeron 500mhz with windows 2k & windows 98 installed. One of the kids was deleting stuff off the drive that she thought was not needed. She says she was deleting mp3's, pictures and old programs, just trying to clear space on a crowded hard drive. The next time she tried to start the computer, it just sits on the 2k splash screen. I tried to go into safe mode, last known good configuration and I restored a previous registry. Nothing seems to work, will not boot with anything. It will boot into windows 98 though. I don't know what else to try to get this thing to boot. Any idea's? Thanks

Have you tried changing the boot sequence to CD Drive first in the BIOS then insert your Win2K CD and RESTART the computer? Your can repair it from there.

Whatever it was that was causing it to hang on boot up, it must have figured it out itself. I turned it on again, let is sit for a few minutes and it booted. I ran adaware and their virus scan and everything was ok. Have no idea what the problem was but I guess it is ok now. Thanks

double check to make sure that the programs that were being deleted were properly removed. if not, you might have a quite a clean up to do.
