Question Reinstall Win98 from hard drive

Hi

How do I go about reinstallingWin98se step by step, taking into consideration that I put a full install of it on my hard drive the first time?
Also, do I need to do another Windows update, and reinstall all the mobo driver again?

Thanks
Doxy

Hello Doxy,

Go into your BIOS and set the boot sequence to CD-ROM, A, and C. Put in the Win98SE CD in your cd-rom, save and exit the BIOS, and you will be asked if you want to enter Windows 98SE setup, CD-ROM support, and another option that I forgot. You will want to get #1. Then Windows will recognize that you have an OS installed on that hard drive already, and it will ask you to format, you will want to format the drive, and then it will install the OS.

Post back if you need anymore help!

Hi

I just want to re-install windows files only. I don't want to lose the games, etc. You know? Re-install JUST the OS.

Install over top you mean.
In Explorer, rename win.com to win.bak in the c:\windows folder.
Go to Start > Run > browse for the setup.exe (either on the CD or your hard drive if you copied all the .cab files there) and run it.
Just make sure you install to c:\windows when prompted, and NOT c:\windows.000
