Drag a desktop shortcut into the quick launch area.

If you don't have the quick launch bar enable, right click on the bar and check the option that refers to it. (sorry, I'm not surfing with XP at the moment, so I can't tell you the exact phrase to look for.)

Do you mean a short-cut to your desktop? I so far have not figured out how to make that, because it is a windows command that is being used.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch and right click on the show desktop icon and send it to the desktop as a short cut and then drag it into the quick launch bar.

The desktop icon button is a waste of space IMO. Instead you can just hit the windows button and D (or M) on the keyboard.

lil jimmie, I looked where you said but the desktop icon isn't there. My other quicklaunch icons are though.

Here's how to make the button from scratch if you really want it:

Open Notepad - select Start, Programs, Accessories, and Notepad - and type the following:

[Shell]

Command=2

IconFile=explorer.exe,3

[Taskbar]

Command=ToggleDesktop

Select File, Save, then navigate your way to the Windows\System folder and name the file Show Desktop.scf. Finally, click Save and close Notepad.

Now just create a shortcut to this file in the x:\Documents and Settings \*user name* \Application Data \Microsoft \Internet Explorer \Quick Launch folder, as described previously, and a Show Desktop item will appear on your Quick Launch toolbar.
