old Pentium 100 won't boot up

It was working fine- Win 98 and Ms Works were probably the only things on it. Very clean- defragged etc. Sold it to wifes friend and loaded a program that generated embroidery patterns for her sewing machine.
She brings it back a week later- it wont boot up.
It checks and passes RAM, no beeps, then " UMB upper limit
segment address F4F5" then it beeps continuously.
Got into BIOS once and noticed the clock date and time is way off .
Won't go back into BIOS now - when I hold down a key ( Shift,
CTL, F8 etc- I get " keyboard error" and no BIOS.
I re seated every thing- cpu, RAM etc. Dont see any coin type battery on the board - this old girl is about 1992.
Could it be the battery ? What do old pre coin shape batteries look like ? Any other ideas ? Thanks lots !

Parangles: On older MOBOs the battery may look like a regular battery with wire pigtails soldered to the mobo. To find it, look for the bios chip(should have some printing on it to indicate the bois name) and the battery should be close to it. And if you want to replace it, get the same type of battery(lithium,ni-cad,etc)
Good luck

Thanks flanzig1, dont see anything like that, but some of the board is obstructed and it could be under one of the drives.
Before I dissassemble/remove stuff, tell me- could a deadish bios battery for sure, cause it not to boot up ? Tks !!

Yes it could cause it not to boot up, but you should still be able to access the BIOS even with dead battery..

I'd still check the RAM out with DocMemory from Simmtester.com.

Took it to my favourite repairman from Noo Yaak. Says the board
is shot and the box shaped BIOS battery cannot be replaced anyway. Thanks for your help.
