Mystery of lost space on RW cdrom
Hi all
Having copied files over to the 700mb ReWritable disc in the cdrom using Windows XP Pro alls fine. When I delete all the files off the disc and verify that there are no files there and then try to copy files over to the same CD again XP say's I have only got 95mb of space on the disc. What am I doing wrong?. Don Last edited by fasgadh; 04-16-2003 at 09:55 AM. |

I have not used windows xp on RWs, I prefer using Nero. What you need to do is erase the disk. When you originally put data on the disk it was physical written to it, when you deleted it, the references to the files were removed but the data is still there and is still taking up space. You should be able to erase the RW and reclaim all of the space by right clicking on the corresponding cd drive that you are using as a writer and selecting the erase option. I hope that helps.
