I am using Windows 98SE. I have a Compaq DeskPro.
Recently I have been having a problem with some of my e-mail messages that I receive in Outlook Express. The problem is that in Outlook Express when I receive e-mail messages from known receipents, I open the e-mail and read the info contained in the body of the e-mail message (as usual) - but, I see a paperclip (indicating that my receipent has sent me an attachment) in the From / Subject line. When I left click on the paperclip, the only two things that come up are: ATT00121.htm and Save Attachment. The "ATT00121.htm" is grayed=out, so I can't open it !!! I see similar e-mail messages with attachments that should not be there (because I called the receipent and asked him if he sent me an attachment - HE DID NOT !!!). The other e-mail messages contain similar ghost file names. That is: ATT00122.htm, ATT00123.htm, etc. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON !!!! AND, HOW I CAN CORRECT THE PROBLEM ??? I should tell you that I recently installed Norton System Works. Please help !!! |

Go into Outlook.
Tools > options > "security" tab > uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"
