Zero Fill & Win xp reinstall
I am going to zero fill my h/d due to virus I can't eliminate. Will I be able to rectivate my win xp oem since all data has been erased will zero fill. I don't want too have to call m/s to activate if at all possible.

Especially since it sounds like you are reinstalling on the exact same machine, and if no major hardware changes have occured since you first installed and activated that load of XP then it should activate fine for you, and especially if it's been a while since you first installed and activated that copy of XP it should go no trouble. If it doesn't then thats the worst case is that you will have to call them and tell them the scoop and you be good to go. It isn't really a big deal to have to call them...

Should have no probs. I would not use any file from a corrupted box, but after you activate xp you can copy the file holding the activation status to a new install, but I suppose that if the config changes (you change mobos or nics or whatever), the file will be useless.

I think I will try it, but I thought after a zero fill, all data was erased including the record of my owership of xp!

Should not be any problems. I've reactivated my copy of XP numerous times in the last 6 months.

Yeah a real zero fill will wipe everything off the drive.
No bits left anywhere save for zeros. Then you will have to reinstall, and activate. |

If it's going on the original computer,no problem,it simply reactivates when you go online.
It's only after major hardware changes(motherboard and cpu,etc.)that you may have to get a new activation code. |
