Question CD-ROM Driver in DOS

Whenever I load MSCDEX and my CD-ROM driver from the floppy disk it came on, it works fine reading data CD's, but if I insert a audio CD it will refuse to read it. Is MSCDEX only limited to reading data CD's, or is it my actual CD-ROM driver?

Do you have the audio wire connected from the cd drive to your soundcard? Are you trying to read the disk in DOS, you need some sort of DOS cd player to get it to play.
