Hello,
I am interested in installing Windows XP on a new build. I would like to save money and buy a DOS package off Ebay and then purchase the XP upgrade instead of the full version. Will this work? Thank you. |

No, because you need a valid Win98, WinME, or Win2K CD to verify you qualify for the upgrade. If you have one of these, you can boot from the XP CD, then give it one of the above CD's to verify you qualify and get a clean install.

Buy the Full OEM version of XP, you can get it for less money than the retail upgrade version.

Sounds good and thank you for the advice, I'll go the win98 to XP route.
