My system is unstable, can i quick fix it?
hi,
i installed windows ages ago and now its started to become a bit unstable and throws the odd wobbly i dont really want to reintall windows as i need my pc for college and havnt the time at the moment is there any procedures i can go through that will leave me with a more stable pc im using xp on a 1300 athlon cheers for any help |

I would recommend that you backup anything you need (just in case, but if all goes well you won't need this backup), and do a windows XP repair.
Turn your PC off, put the XP disc in and boot up (make sure you have the bios set so that it will check the CD drive before the Hard Drive). You don't want to do a "recovery", so just press enter to "install xp", press F8 and then it should search for previous installations (and should find your installation), there will then be an option somewhere on that screen to "repair you current installation". This will just repair windows, and although it will require the Key, and some other details, once complete (1 hour max), your system should be stable again (if it was indeed a windows problem in the first place). You won't need to go through and re-install all your programs etc as you would if you re-installed windows Good luck! Phil |

I would just do a restore to a date when it was working ok

ive restored back to a couple months ago and things seem fine (thank god), ill give it a while if it still plays up ill try the repair
