Configuring user policies

The machines that are on my network have two partitions. I have configured two accounts, one mine with all privileges and a "user" account with limited privileges.

I wanna block the User account the access to the second partition of the HD. How do I do it?

HI,
You can only set the privileges if the partition is NTFS. If it is, right click it and select Properties. Then on the Security tab, you will see a list of all system objects (users etc.) that have access to the partition. Simply remove those that you do not want. But it would be wise to leave System with access to the disk.

The option is grayed out and it is an NTFS partition.

What type of user account? If you use the User Settings Wizard in XP, it may be that the user you created has only USER privileges already and therefore has no access to the partition by default.

I am logged on with my main account. The one that has all the privileges.

Do I need to log in as Admin?

Hi Nuke,
What are your current user privileges? Yu need to be a member of the Administrators group to set and revoke user rights and privileges.

Although going about your regular work logged in as a member of that group is not a very good idea at all.

Log in as Admin, set your required user privileges and log back into your regular account. Remember to specify that your regular account has access to that partition.
