Shut-Down help.......
I am running win98SE, just replaced MB and CPU 2 weeks ago and all was ok until this past weekend, now when I go to shut-down I can hear a click from inside the computer however it does not shut-down...... Can you help.........

Some extremely helpful links in the thread Nuke posted [the aumha site is particularly well organised and informative].
I'm going to guess that you did the upgrade as an "inplace" upgrade (didn't reformat or reinstall Windows 98). Did you try the "Enum Trick" (listed down in the "Tips & Tricks" section of the Pc Mechanic forums? Or did you just let Windows re-detect things at first reboot following the upgrade? If you opted for the second choice, try looking in on Add/Remove for any chipset-related drivers that might have drivers available to uninstall from there [assuming that the upgrade uses a different chipset]. Reboot. Then try a run of RegClean to help clear any leftovers from hardware that doesn't exist anymore [ ---> you can also try the enum trick followed by a run of RegClean to be even more thorough ] You can download RegClean 4.1 (it was updated for Win98) from http://download.com.com/3000-2094-881470.html Best of luck . . .
