I installed a fresh Win98, but i've been having problemes to getting my sound blaster. From what I understand it's a Creative 128 PCI, and it's onboard card.
in the old system (xp) it was listed as a intel(r) integrated audio. I have what I believe is my SB drivers on my mother boards's cdrom. with the same number CT-5880 on the motherboard box and the cdrom. But when I tried to install it it reached 95 % and locked up. after that I couldn't have run the installtion program again. using the device manager to point it to the driver says it's not the right one. so I preety much stuck with any audio under win98. what can be done ? |

Does your mobo have onboard sound? What are your system specs?

Hi ReBeL,
That may be your problem, you have either the PCI card or onboard sound. Try removing the PCI card to see if Windows installs. TwoRails |

Hi,
As TwoRails says, you can either have your onboard audio active or have an add-on audio card. Your Creative 128 PCI is an add-on card. Try either removing the Creative PCI card from your system and then installing Windows, or disabling onboard sound in your BIOS and then installing Windows with your Creative card. Knowing your system specs helps to determine if indeed you do have onboard audio, and helps the gurus here help you better. HTH, NPP |

NO - the onboard chip is being seen as a SB 128 PCI, CT-5880. It's NOT a card. This is very common on i810 motherboards. Rebel, your system specs would be very helpful here, specifically the motherboard model and any expansion cards in the machine.
You can try downloading the latest drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's site (see why we need details?) or maybe the generic Soundblaster PCI 128 drivers from Creative. |
