okok, so i wanted my boot screen to be random, so i downloaded 'LogonUIBootRandomizer.' i downloaded a bunch of boot screens that have nice high resolution pictures (when i look at them in the preview of the program). When my computer boots however, their quality is greatly diminished. WHY? help me out here

I think win xp is booting up it hasn't loaded the video card drivers, and is using the only resolution available before it does that. I could be wrong though...

No, WinXP uses 256 color mode for the bootscreens. I think it is to match the original screen on Win95 (those magic clouds!) which had a PERFECT 256 grainy look to them.

I have randomized boot screens too and they are all 256colors - pretty crummy looking but better than what I had before!

Spyda, i dont think you could have had perfect quality boot screens. unless there is a program that will allow this, i know that Microsoft intentionally wanted the boot screen to be in 256 color mode.

was it perfect when you had it in a program? or was it also perfect when you booted up with it? i know a lot of people who would be happy to hear it if you could have a perfect image at boot.
