Pinging multiple IP addresses

I want to ping approx 100 IP addresses on the local network to see if they are currently used but don't want to type a ping statement for each. Could I write a batch file for example to do it all that will display the results for all the requests?

If you're trying to determine which IP's are active and which are not a simple port scanner will do what you want. There are several out there and givin the right parameter's will the output will tell you whether there's a computer there or not. I have a real simple freeware one that I use for pinging multiple IP's it's called Superscan 2.06 and you can find it on twocows.com here's the direct link

I like this one because it has a ping only command, just enter the IP range.
