laser mouse locks when connected to aol

Hi, i've had a rather strange problem for a machine I built for a friend. Whenever he connects to aol, the usb laser mouse shuts off, and will not come back on. I've never had anything like this happen before,I have unplugged the mouse and tried to plug it back in, and to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Insanepyro69.

Is it just AOL or whenever you log onto the internet? I would recommend tryng the PS/2 port instead of USB. You should be able to find a cheap USB-PS/2 adapter.

I haven't been on AOL in LONG TIME but I remember having a mouse problem with AOL and it was related to the modem and mouse having a conflict. Is he using dial up modem to log on to AOL or is he on broadband. (I hate AOL - )
