How do I remove XP Home and install 98SE?

Hello all - I need some info. I want to remove XP home and install 98SE. I know it's easy to go from 95 to 98 and xp and so on but I know MS makes it dam hard to go backwards. Is it easy, or what?

If you have win98 boot disk, then boot with it, use FDISK to delete current partitions and repartition fat32, and reboot again from win98 bootdisk and format the drive than you should be all set to install win98, if you choose with cdrom support your ready to put cd in and go, or after partitioning you souuld be good to boot from win98 cd to format HD and then run setup...

Johnny make sure you have all of your data backed up first , although if you converted to NTFS when you installed XP ,98 may not read the files.

Do you have a particular issue with XP?
Just curious ,James

Boot up into the RECOVERY CONSOLE. Use the FORMAT command that it has and that will format the drive. Then you will want to boot up into FDISK and remove "NON DOS PARTITION" & then you can start installing Windows 98SE. 98SE will NOT be able to format the hard drive IF the drive is NTFS.
Yes, Microsoft does make it harder for it to go back to 98SE from XP/2K. You have to go through a lot.
Thats how I would do it. 98SE may let you repartition the hard drive if you have not deleted it in FDISK but have formatted it from the recovery console. Give that a try and let me know how it goes.
Hope that helps!
