wat in gods name did i do now?
Some days! XP pro.
I just fix my buddies box..... you guessed it. When I boot, if I boot into the admin acc. I get a screen with only the desktop pic. showing. No icons, no start menu, no-nothing! No task bar, no right click.... I can't even shut it off while using the admin.(while in the task manager) I can Ctrl-Alt-Del, to switch users. If I go to a user that does not have admin priv., it works fine. I guess I will do a system restore, unless someone knows what happened? Thanks |

I think its best to go ahead and restore. i think it might have to do with your registry and the explorer.exe isn't kicking in. That's basically what controls the task menu, start menu etc. wouldn't hurt to restore, would it?

I agree with sleepypost. Do a repair installation, you won't lose any files or anything. That *should* fix everything.

When you do ctrl alt del, go to file, new task (run), and type in "explorer.exe". See if it brings everything up.
