Boom Loading Windows XP

I have put together a PC, and the HD has Windows 98 on it. How should I load XP while getting rid of 98? I dont want to dual boot, i want 98 gone. How should I do this? (if there is a link, please post it, i know this is asked alot)

Boot to the XP cd start the install and delete the partition, create a new one and format all can be done during the XP install process.

I have a A7V333 and all you need to do is change the boot order to your cd-rom.

The link I posted above will help you walk through the various screen of the install.

No word does not as it is a part of the MS Office suite, but XP does have Wordpad.

ok, im looking at that site you gave me (step 5) should I delete both partitions, even though one of them has Win98 on it?

edit: would that be a clean install (if all that stuff was deleted)?

Yes, deleting the partition and creating new ones would be a clean install and at this point an upgrade is too late you have to run that from within windows 98

if you need word and word only from the office suite, do not buy word as a stand alone product, instead buy the works suite for 100, it has word (full version) and some other stuff that may or may not be useful to you
"full versions of Works 7.0, Word 2002, Picture It! Photo 7.0, Encarta Encyclopedia Standard 2003, Money 2003 Deluxe and Streets & Trips 2002 "

word alone is about 300 full version and the upgrade is about 80, but if you have nothing to upgrade from then that does you no good.

course you could oem office from newegg, but now we are talking a bit more plus the hardware you need to qualify for an oem purchase
