storing windows cab files locally
Hello there,
I know there is a way to get windows to automatically look in a local folder for the windows 98 cab files (so that it doesn't keep asking for the CD). I think it is a registry fix. Can anyone help? TIA. |

Analog X has a nice little utility to do just that.

Hi,
Simply copy all the Win98 installer files to a folder on your hard disk. Then go to add/remove programs and add a windows component. When it asks for the CD, point it to the folder you stored all your .cab files in, and let it install. From now on, it will always look in that folder by default. NPP |

You might want to edit the registry and make it point to whatever location you saved the cab files to. This was posted by Iman74 in a similar post like this one.
