Win XP System restore

When I try to do a system restore, I click on the Bold date and the computer does its thing..It reboots and then states that the system restore could not be done.. I have tried it with several different dates and still will not work...I have to reinstall windows to fix the problem. Any suggestions or help ??
Thanks
Bill

I have only seen this when the restore files are corrupt. You might try to running SFC by going to start > run > type > "cmd" and hit enter at the command prompt, type "sfc /scannow" and have your XP cd ready to load into your cd-rom. After SFC has run you will need to reinstall all MS updates you previously had installed. If this does not fix the problem you can perform a repair install by booting to your XP cd and skip the repair console, just go on as if you were going to do a reinstall and the setup will detect your previous install and ask if you want to run a repair. With the repair you will still need to reinstall any MS updates as well.
