shut down
When I shut down my computer, it takes about 2 minutes to shut down. Is there any way to speed things up a bit? I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. Any suggestions? tell me if you need any more information. Thanks in advance.

1 thing to check is how many things do you have running at all times.. The more things running like Virus software and other apps, the longer shutdown will take..

Try shutting those things down manually yourself then shut windows down and see if ther is much difference, then you at least know if it's all those apps causing it or something in windows itself. if you have a LAN card then that always adds time to starting up and shutting down...

This might help.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control. Click on the "Control" Folder. Select "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" Right click on it and select Modify. Set it a value lower than 2000 (Mine is set at 200) |
