powerpoint and music files

I've made a powerpoint presentation and I am wondering is there anyway to add music files (mp3) that they become part of the presentation? I know that when you insert pictures they will be saved as part of the presentation and not just linked to. When I go to Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound From File, all it really does is make a link to where it is on my hard drive and play from there. This is really not what I need because I need to be ablt to make it that it can be transported to other PC's and just clip and play by someone other than me (ie. with little or no technical know how). Any ideas?

I'm really hoping that I can have it all embedded in the one powerpoint file so that only that file needs transfered and all someone who wants to show it needs to do is open it and hit slide show with out changing links or anything?

First, you will need to convert the MP3 to a Wav. Then, right click on an object > custom animation > choose an animation effect > click on the pull down menu for sound effects and scroll down and select "other...". Browse until you find your wav file and click OK.

When the object is animated in the slide show, the music will play. If on a slower computer, there will be a delay as the sound file loads.

These steps will embed your wav file into the presentation (thus drastically increasing the file size of your ppt file).

I don't think so.

You could make a link to an MP3 bruned onto a CD. I'm not sure if it would work if the drive letter is different if you present the ppt on another computer.

What you could do is when you convert it to a wav, lower the bit rate, set the sound to be mono, and possibly decrease the quality rating to 44Hz or lower. Goldwave www.goldwave.com can do this for you when you save the MP3 as a wav.

OK, got another idea, what would be a simple way of me creating an exe file that would extract a file automatically to something like c:\? Just to make it wasy for anyone who wants to run it, so that all they have to do is execute one file and then run the powerpoint. I'm thinking this might done easiest using a .bat file but I don't have any programming skills (other than html :P)

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help so far force_flow!

Sorry, that's getting out of experience area as well, MSIuser.

What you could do is save the ptt as a "PowerPoint Show". When your presentation is saved like this, and someone opens it, it bypasses the ppt program and goes directly to play it. The only way to edit this pps file is to open ppt, then browse, then open the file.

Hope this is what you're looking for!

Well, I found a guy that knows some scripting and it is surprisingly easy!

@Echo Off
Copy revival.mp3 C:\
Copy revival.ppt C:\
Start C:\revival.ppt

Saved as a .bat file and off you go! Never thought it would basically be Dos tags! LOL! Well, thanks for the help! I definitely think I'll have to remember that sorta thing!
