passwords

is their a way to recover passwords on windows 2kpro? my roomate and i rebuilt a computer for his mom and its been running since we brought it over (over 6mo ago)! the computer finally got rebooted and now none of us know any of the passwords. can anybody offer any insight?

Brandan, If your have the Admin password or an account that has admin right's, yes you can reset the passwords of users, but without the password of those admin accouts I'm sorry to say, but I think this goes outside of the forum rules.

i thought their was a command on the recovery disk that recoverd lost passwords?

On Windows XP you can make a password reset disk, which will reset (not recover) a user's password on that one computer. I have not heard of anything equivalent for Windows 2000, though.

check out www.techtv.com , as they have a lot of info on recovering / removing passwords.
