Q811493
I uninstalled it and found some tempoary relief from the slow program loads. It seems like it came back, and I am 100% sure that it isn't installed.
Could my hard drive be going out on me? I've heard problems about the DeskStar, and I got it for free. System specs: 512DDR 2700 Crucial P4 2.4B FIC VI13 IBM DeskStar 60GB |

Hello Big Weapons,
Do you have your Page File setup? What is it's initial and maximum size? Have you defragged the hard drive lately? The longer you keep Windows on your hard drive, the slower the hard drive will become. Your problem could rely with what I had. If you look in the XP/2K thread under "Lag" read that post and check it out. It probably deals with the swap file usage. |

I should really restart after a week
I hadn't realized it because my computer is always on... one time I had it on for the whole summer without shutting down once.

The speed only lasts for a minute
![]() The OS took forever to load during the restart too. It was stuck at the "loading xp" window for about a minute. My HD activity light was a solid red. |

Have you run chkdsk /f and done a defrag recently? When was the last time you did a disk cleanup?

Just defragged today. Last time I ran dick cleanup was about a week ago. I think I'll go run it again. I'll run chkdsk later.

No errors, and it still runs slowly.
