Boot sequence

Hello all
I have winxp home installed on 2 hard drives within the same computer. So that is 2 copies, one which is used as a backup. My original xp is on my C drive and the backup copy is on my F drive. What I need to know is how I go about changing my boot.ini sequence so that my original xp which is labeled on partition "0" boots by default . Right now it is coming up as my second choice Thanks in advance

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Back up" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

For starters do this with the backup HDD disconnected and then see if it boots. Also, I truly don't get the idea of having a second HDD loaded with XP as a backup. Can you explain this to me?

Just change the "default" line from

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS

to

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS

Thanks guys I got it! As far as to why I would want to xp's installed... I use one for a backup and to "play with" To see how some applications run before putting them into my primary sys

Thanks again

I understand that.

A lot of guys I know run two versions of XP or Win98. Some use the unadulterated, lean version for Video Editing or playing around with beta programs.
