NT/2000 Profile Problems
I have a public computer that several students use. they each log onto the network to use these PCs. Each time they log onto the computer it configures IE for a new user, has the damn internet connection wizard try and pop up, and installs office for that user too. Is there any way I can make the default profile have all this stuff already happen? So when a new account is created it doesn't have to go through all this rigamarole?
TIA, Seth |

The answer is the same as the last time.
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=57330 As the "setup" user run the connection wizard, start all the office apps etc and set up everything how you want it. Copy the ntuser and ntuser.dat from the setup profile to the default user profile. If the students save work on the machine then backup their work and delete all their existing profiles. The next time they logon their profile will be created with all the settings you configured as the "setup" user. |

Ok - Fair enough.
As far as I'm aware the process is the same for NT and 2K only the profiles are in a different place. There is also an option to specify a Profile in the users properties or to create users using an existing account as template. I can't be more specific as I don't have access to NT at the moment. |

Profiles for NT are in %systemroot%/profiles or typically (c:\winnt\profiles) I didn't try the specify a template in user properties thing. I'll see if that works. thanks for the idear.
