Recently, I tried to install XP on my computer. It worked untill it started loading for the first time. Then the black screen with the XP logo just froze and I couldnt install XP.
I then upgraded my mobo and graphics card and tried again and XP worked. Then I gave the mobo and the graphics card to my girlfriend. We tried to install XP on hers and she had the same problem I originally had. The problem has to do with either the graphics card or the mobo, I'm not sure. I thought I'd post and see if anyone had problems installing XP with the similar mobo or card. Epox 8KTA3 mobo GeForce2 MX 400 Thanks

What brand of RAM are you using? Some motherboards are particular when it comes to RAM.

you might let it set ther a bit longer, as it is loading the drivers for all the hardware and networking search, and other settings for the first time.
I also thought it froze and several installs, but it eventualy came up normal. |

im actually using a lot of different brands.. PNY being one I know off right off the bat. Win98 has no trouble loading just XP, thats why im thinking it may just be the graphics card or mobo. I let the winxp start screen up for almost 6 hours and it didnt do a thing.

Go into BIOS setup, and disable the anti-virus, aka "Trend chip away".
Set PnP OS Installed to NO. Set graphics aperture to 64. Set Init display first to AGP. Restart. |
