Can You Make Small 1 Gig Partition For Windows 2000 Pro

I've got a 6 gig drive on a laptop with no partitions and that makes me nervous especially with all the viruses and spy software going around everywhere.

So I'd like to make a 1 gig partition for the Windows 2000 pro operating system that would then be small enough so I could make an image of it to burn to a CD for backup. I'm planning on using Partition Magic 7 and DriveImage 2002. Is there any problem anyone knows of in making a small 1 gig partition like that for Windows 2000 Pro.

You should really have at least 2 GiG for 2K as you will want to have all your drivers etc installed on the same partition and leave a bit spare.

It's possible, actually I'm doing it on a few pentium 166's. Leaves you just under 300 megs free. Go 1.3 or 1.4 gigs for better performance.

I'd recommend 2 gigs, simply to give 2K room to breathe and also allow room for files that your apps will install in the system, regardless of which partition you install the app on.
