Partition Help needed

Hey Guys I have 1 40 gig drive with 3 partitions. My first partition that houses my main OS(Win XP pro) is the partition that I would like to be my path so I could boot. I have the partition active but the path is on the second partition. My question is how do I make my first partition have my path. I don't know what I did but I was trying to have a dual boot OSes (ME and XP) and I somehow screwed up the path that my main OS was supposed to be on.

what you did was mess up your boot sequence. if you want windows me and windows xp, you have to install me first, then install xp. for some reason, it doesn't work the other way around. this will require completely reinstalling your operating system. if you don't want to go that option, and just want xp back the way it was, you can boot the computer with the windows xp cd and do a repair on the xp installation.

O.k. When I try the recovery after booting with the cd it claims that it doesn't find any hard disks installed. I know that the hard disk is there and from fdisk I can see 3 partitions with the second partition using the path.

Hi everyone,
I still have this problem only now no C: label is listed under any of the partitions. If you know how to label a partition manually so it reads as C:\ let me know. Thanks.
