can you change the IRQ of a device?

i noticed that my 56k modem and my raid controller are using the same IRQ number, and my video card and my sound card are using the same IRQ number. is this why i'm getting IRQ_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL errors? if so, how do i fix it?

What OS? It depends if you have ACPI, but if you did then you shouldn't be getting the errors so just go into device manager, find the device you want, highlight it and click properties, then resources and if the IRQ's are able to be changed by you, then thats where you can do it..

Go into Device Manager a find your Video Card or Modem and select properties. then click on the Resources tab. It will tell you if there are any irq conflicts. If there are you should be able to change the IRQ.

Go into Windows Help and click the Index tab and type in IRQ. It will show you a few topics about IRQ's. Read the one about assigning to devices. It will talk about conflicts.

Since you're using WinXP Home, it shouldn't be a problem because WinXP can and does put several devices on the same IRQ (WinXP handles IRQ and system resource sharing very well) if your motherboard is ACPI compliant. Just don't put anything in the PCI slot next to the AGP slot. And if ACPI is enabled in BIOS, I think you won't be able to re-assign IRQ or system resources anyway.

Your problem is either driver issues or RAM related. Are your drivers up to date? Is the RAM timing set correctly in BIOS? Do you have extra RAM you can swap in to test with?

Your motherboard is said to be very finicky about the RAM used. What brand are you using?
