Windows XP signon password

This may be something simple but I don't know the solution.

I now have another person occasionally using my computer, sometimes without my knowledge, so I decided to password it at login.

Since doing so, I start getting this message.
"The system has recovered from a serious error. A log of this error has been created. For more
information check here".

When I try and close the message, It almost instantly returns and keeps doing so until I shut down.

The info supplied is
Error signature
BCD Code: di BCP1: 00000000 BCP2: 00000002
BCP3: 00000000 BCP4: E32C19A5 OSVer: 5_1_2600
SP: 0_0 Product 768_1

If I remove the password, I never get this message.

Any help will be greatly apprieciated.

No, I have not done any of the up-dates. Kind of afraid to fix or maybe break unbroken items.

You can't get more broken than blue-screening.

I'd install SP1. It's a stable and necessary patch. I've done tons of them.

OK this is terrific. I followed your advice and installed the patch and now I get the same serious error message with or without the login password. I click on close, and the error message instantly reappears.

Any other suggestions ??

Ahhhhh
All is well.
I un-installed the SP1 patch and were back to normal.
Hate those helpful folks at MS.
If the password causes a problem again, I'll disable it.
So far so good.

This won't be much help but I had this problem and
there is a patch to fix it. I don't remember where I found
it on microsofts site but the patch did work.
