XP on 700 mhz laptop?
My dad has a 700mhz dell with 256mb ram. It's got Windows ME right now and its been having a lot of compatibility problems, which I think is common in ME (?). I can put either XP pro on it or 98 se. He is going to use it for a lot of home video editing, etc. Will it run decent with xp on it or should I go with 98se?
Thanks, Jeremy |

XP will run fairly well, although it would be better with 512 RAM.
Give it a try, and if he doesn't like it, put 98 on it. I have a Celeron 500 system here, with 256 meg and it runs XP with little trouble. Dropped a GF4 in it, and my son does nothing but play games, and it never crashes. XP is going to be stable. 98 will leave more resources for video editing, but if you can get more RAM in the machine, then definitely go for XP. |

Don't you mean, "I bet it will run better than it ever has on ME."?
