Help!
Ok, this problem is very weird and very inconsistent so bear with me.
When i run AIM, every once and while my whole computer freezes up and I am unable to do anything at all. When i try and open task manager the computer just does that annoying xp warning sound. Then when i go into the start menu I am unable to open up any other applications. Then, If say WMP is open and I close everything works again for about 5 minutes and then it simply breaks down again. Also, in aim I am unable to right click on anything or quit out. PLEASE HELP ME! P.s I ran a virus scan and nothing came up and I frequently run Ad-aware so there is no harmful spyware. |

What are your system specs?
Is this a store bought or home built computer? How do you connect to the internet? Have you cleaned out your Windows Temp Folders? What kind of background programs are you running? Drivers all up to date? Cricket

Have you cleaned out the Windows Temp folder?
How's your system temps? Do you have case fans installed? Where is the WinXP warning sound coming from? The speakers or the case? Cricket

I'm not familiar with AIM, but is it the latest version?
Try uninstall and then re-install AIM. Cricket

Looked at your specs..you said you have a software modded 9500? Meaning you overclocked your video card? If so, underclock it to factory settings and see how things go.
Try disabling some of the unneeded services that are running in the background when you boot up. Here is a great website for that: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm How is your pagefile set up? I'm thinkin this could be a RAM problem or even a Power Supply Problem. Go to http://www.docmemory.com and download their RAM tester and test your RAM. What is the brand of your power supply? Hope that helps! |
