IE6 Problem
Hi, I hope someone can help with this problem I have with IE6 = it started bahaving strangely recently.
1) If I press the 'back' button, the majority of times I get the message 'session expired - Retry'. This is always the case on common sites such as amazon or a google search. I can never just go back, I have to start my search over. 2) I cannot view source anymore. If I try (View->Source) nothing happens. These are very frustrating - any ideas how to resolve it please? |

Usually that only happens on secure sites. Are you sure you are not on a secure site while you try to go back?

Very sure - like I say it's sites like Yahoo, Google, Amazon.
I was hoping there would be some settings rather than reinstalling things.... |

In IE, go to Tools, Internet options.
In the Temporary internet files section, click on Settings. Check for newer versions of stored pages, set to "Once per session". On the Programs tab, HTML editor section, set it to "Notepad". Exit IE, and restart. |

The options for checking newer versions are as follows:
Every Visit Every time I start IE Auto Never - this does not include your suggestion. It is currently set on Auto, which should I try? |

Try Every time I start IE, and if that doesn't work right, set it to Never.

Nope. None of these things have worked.
Still lose my session data, and still can't view source. Any other ideas? |

You could try a repair.
![]() Control Panel > Add/remove programs > Click "Add/Remove" (or change--whatever the button is named. I'm not in XP at the moment. )When a dialouge pops up, you will get Modify, Repair and Remove. Try the repair. If that fails to correct your problem, try removing and reinstalling. |
