Help Needed sharing Printer

Hi Guys and Gals.

11 PC network on a win2kserver.

In 1 of the offices, there is business all-in one HP Printer, which is connected to PC no1, this is shared with PC no2, no problems.

The problem is that PC no3 although it can see the PC that is sharing (no1), I cannot get access to it, it insists on asking for username and Password, no prob, log on to it it as admin.

NO JOY

No matter what i have done it will not let me access this pc, but I am able to from other workstations. I am now at a loss as to what to do.

PLEASE HELP

Yep, sorry should have made that clear.

I have tried all that I know, but untill I can access no1 from no3 I cannot share the printer. I have been asked NOT to change the config of the setup as it is. I know it would make life easier but they want it left that the printer is attached to no1 via paralell cable, and not connected to the network !!!

Don't ask me why?

Question

Hi kissfan,
May sound obvious but has PC1 got user accounts set up for this printer for all the other PC's? I had a similar problem before with user rights etc....

andyms18 Yep no problems, all networking functions run as expected. even the most obscure software they are running.

Jomama Yep all are on TCP/IP, they also ALL share the same ADSL connection with no probs. All have Print and File sharing enabled.

fredwest All computers have been set as to allow any user access, but still no joy, obviously I have had to re-implement some restrictions, but even under everybody have full access to every PC, I still cannot get PC3 to access PC1.

I must add this to the equation tho' They have reached their license limit, and infact they are possbly 1 over.

Trouble is they have said that they did have it working OK, untill I set up their ADSL connection (seems strange), but they have also added another PC to the N/W since then.

Could this be a licensing prob, I wonder?

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies and help by the way.

to check if its a licensing prob unplug pc4 or 5 from the network and see if the printer works also can all the other computers see and use the printer on pc1 via the network ?
dose pc1 see and access the shared folders on pc3 ?
try removing the printer from the my printers folder on pc3
then run the add printer wizard and try a reinstall

andyms18a

Removing a PC from the network hasn't worked.

Yes all the other PC's can see access PC1 through the network,PC3 can see it just can't access it.

No printer installed on PC3.

Will check on Monday if PC1 can access PC3.

Thanks for the help.
