win98se- graphics display problem--
This is a recurring problem when i open my download file..
Occasionally- instead of the (JPEG/GIF) image disaplying, I get a very small postage stamped sized graphic in the uper left corner of the screen and the computer freezes for about 60 seconds..then..the full sized (screen filling) image appears-and the computer unlocks. suggestions!! TX |

I think what you are experiencing is very common. I am guessing you are using a 56k modem. This isn't really a windows problem...images take awhile to download. While your computer is waiting for enough data to be transferred to start to form the image, you get the little icon in the upper left hand corner. Once there is enought data transferred, the picture starts to form. Your system isn't really freezing, it's just waiting.
I think the only solutions are to be patient, or to get a cable or satellite modem....... |

that in itself may be the problem. Why not get IfranView, it is free and is one of the very best image viewers available. You can get it at almost any of the freeware/shareware sites.

I agree with Eaglefeather. Internet Explorer opens graphics files almost as slowly as it downloads them. Irfanview can be downloaded here:
http://www.irfanview.com/ I use a program called Polyview which you can find here: http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-...ml?tag=lst-0-1 let us know if trying to open one of your graphics files is quicker in a different program... |

those programs are great..will see if the "sticking postage stamp" syndrome shows under them!
Now to get a y-enc decoder program! |
