fqpissed WINXP shutdown

Hi all

Athlon XP1800
Matsonic MS8137c
40 Gig HD
512 sdram

I have only recently developed this problem. over 18 months no problems. WINXP freezes on shutdown with USB devices plugged in i.e. labtec headset or logitech quickcam. If they are unplugged shutdown is OK, if they are plugged in, shutdown gets to shutting down windows and freezes, mouse dead. The adsl USB connection is not affected. Any new ideas please, I have tried so many.

Before you go through the agony of a new install, did you try the XP repair?
