In addition to promising me a full length movie it has Windows Media Player 9, Windows Movie Maker 2, and other stuff but it's the XP SP1a that really grabs my attention.
Anybody else got the "Do Amazing Things" DVD today?

No cd for me. But they've been nice enough to send several infected emails.

The e-mails are spoofed, so you can't blame M$ for them.
I'll watch the movies ( it's free entertainment), but I'm reminded that I missed something. What is SP XP1a ? |

How thrilling, on-line crash analysis sent to M$, and for no reason.
My life should get even more interesting! Avoid this DVD ! You'll never make it to what was a good movie. |

I believe it's the Service Pack 1 without the Java console.

I got it to run, and it was semi-worth it.
I checked M$, thanks grasshopperbe, and darkmessenger was right. It's SP 1 without the VM. The movies are: The Living Sea, which wasn't bad, The Hire which consist of high definition shorts, The Making of Ghost of the Abyss, a Tony Hawk's thing that you can use to encourage that really annoying kid to kill himself attempting, and Step into Liquid, about surfers and monster waves. They're all "bonus" content that will only run if you're using XP. The program updates aren't, IE 6, Media player 9, etc. The idea seems to be that the people who bought XP don't know all it can do ( they're probably right about that ) and that those who haven't will be thrilled with the marketing ( consider it a very long commercial ). I enjoyed the movies but it's a dubious gesture. Also, I don't remember giving M$ my home address. |
