XP auto-rebooting on Shutdown
I built my first PC last year and the only problem I have had is when I shut down Windows XP-Home, my system automatically re-boots. Do I have something set up incorrectly or a cable not in the right place? I have just hit the "off" button during re-boot to turn it off but hoped there was a fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS! WinXP-Home 2GHZ P4 40GB HD nVidia GeForce4 1GB RAM |

Thanks newme...I checked the Windows Knowledge Base as you directed and found they described my problem exactly. Blue screen and all. I will use the information they list and troubleshoot my situation. I'm a little hesitant about editing the registry so I will try the Roxio update first.

I found that my older Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 (now doing business as Roxio) did not have any updates on the Roxio website or Adaptec. I removed the software and in doing so removed my problem. I can now shut down with no problem and did not have to mess with the registry. Thanks to all that submitted their help and support!!!!
