XP install question....
With 98SE, I know you can copy the cab files to the hard drive and install from their. That's how I normally install the OS.
Can you do the same thing with XP Home on a new drive? If so, how's it done as XP also formats the drive during the install process.

Hi,
During the installation, Windows XP actually copies the entire i386 folder on the CD to the Hard Disk. This is what enables it to automatically install new (recognised) devices and protocols without asking for the installation CAB files on CD or Hard Disk. If you have ever installed Win2K you will remember that it gives you the option to copy that folder to HDD. Well, XP does that by itself. Hope that answers your question. NPP
