kernel32.dll

I've been having a wonderful week with my computer.

Earlier in the week I could only start in safe mode, and after searching these forums (using another computer) for advice, and following a few tips, established that Norton Antivirus was the cause of the problem, and uninstalled it.

This morning, I turned my computer on (it was perfectly okay last night) to see the message "qttask has caused an error in kernel32.dll. qttask will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer." The computer runs but only in a screenmode of 640 x 480 with 16 colours. The restart didn't help.

I uninstalled Quicktime and then got a message "unvise32qt has caused an error in kernel32.dll unvise will now close. I've removed unvise32qt but can still only get a 640 x 480 16 colour screen.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Glenn

Yup.
Reinstall Quicktime.
Reinstall Norton.
Reinstall video card drivers.
Go to Norton (Symantec) website and dig around for the instructions on how to remove Norton's pile of crap from the computer.
Uninstall Quicktime.
If all that fails, reinstall Windows over top.

Thanks Reboot. I'll give it a try when I get home from work.

It's Alive

Following your instructions, I re-installed Norton, Quicktime and the Video Card drivers and everything is now working okay.

Many thanks Reboot. Much appreciated.
