OEM XP Auth. Number
My dad recently bought an OEM version of XP from New Egg. On the MS certificate it had a printed note something like "Your computer manufacturer has placed a sticker with the authorization number on your computer."
Obviously, since he is building the computer himself, that is not the case. I would have assumed the sticker would have been included in the packaging somewhere. Does anyone have some insight, or can tell me what it looks like in order to facilitate his search? Thanks. |

We get those w/ all the Dell machines we order here. Seems like something similiar to a recovery disk. I would call New Egg. I've ordered OEM products before and the only difference I've noticed was there wasn't any of the pretty packaging, but it always came w/ Auth. numbers.

My OEM XP disk came with a sticker to place on the box. I got the disk from Dell as a free upgrade.

Thanks for the quick response. We found in on the celephane wrapper (in the garbage). Good lesson to learn.
