Question Hard drive partitions

I just installed a new hard drive to be used to store digital photos. My wife takes a lot and this way we will have a lot of space.I have a Dell 8200 wiht XP Home Edition. While setting it up in disk management it asked if I wanted it as a primary partition of extended partition. I said primary. Was that correct based on how the drive will be used?

Since this is a second hard drive, you didn't have to make a primary partition on it...the whole drive could have been partitioned as a extended partition. But no harm done here, it'll work fine with a primary partition.
