how do you get rid of the log in screen when windows starts up?

When I start up windows ME, it asks me to log in. I cant figure out how to get this to stop coming up. Can someone tell me make it so when start windows it doesnt ask me to log in?

this is quite just a win configuration problem, the reeeason its doing it is because when u first installed win-ME, and it booted up for the first time it asks you for a password, if you give it a name or password or something, it will use it all the time,this will also happen if you click cancel. what you should have done is just clicked 'ok' with no password in the box it would have been fine.

to fix the problem now, all you need to do is go to control panel, open up password properties, select the user profiles tab and select the box that says 'all users on this computer use the same desktop settings etc. (this may differ as i am using win98 and not me, but its still the same build.).

if that doesent work or if its already done then try going 2 control panel\users and sorting it out that way, maybe go 2 control panel\networks and check that your using 'microsoft family logon' and not 'windows logon', if not then delete windows logon and use your windows disk 2 add the other 1 (only if all else fails, bcz this can fuk u up bad if it goes wrong)

A surefire way to get rid of it is to go through the registry. Click Start, Run, type regedit hit enter. In the left pane click the folder that says HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, when it expands click the folder that says Network, next click logon, and then delete all the entries in the right pane. You should see something like this:

username="your user name"
PrimaryProvider="Microsoft Network"
LMLogon=hex:00,00,00,00


Once you delete those restart windows and you'll will get the prompt asking for your new username and password. Put in a username but not a password and then hit OK. The next time you start windows it will skip the login.
