Norton Antivirus 2003

Has anyone had any problems installing NAV 2003 on XP PRO? I've had 2 times where it installed incorrectly and I had to format the whole drive and start a fresh install on XP.

Yes. It sucks. You've run into the same thing that thousands of users have. Norton and XP don't play well together, and uninstalling Norton is even worse.
Get AVG from www.grisoft.com and use it instead, it's free.

Dunno about NAV2003 but I've got NAV2002 and it works really well with WindowsXP. It's nabbed a few viruses already for me!

Panda is way better than Norton IMO. At least it coexists with XP peacefully.

Norton used to be good, now only its fame remains.

I had Nav 2002 on all machines at one time and after updating the thing it started having all kinds of problems. I opt to uninstall it and went with AVG and love it.

Just a note I read that Nav 2003 has nothing new that is worth spending the money for. Just my 2 cents.

I had a librarian tell me the other day that his Norton Anti-Virus did not work well with his Windows2000 PC.

Could any of you guys explain what exactly the problems are associated with NAV and WindowsXP/2000?

As I said, works excellent on my machine.

BTW, agree with DD5, with the constant live updates on NAV2002, I simply don't see the need for purchasing NAV2003 (unless of course you don't have an older version).

I had the problem once and i decided to install the Norton System works Edition of 2003 which comes with norton anti -virus and its seems to go well i believe that norton has no problems with Xp its the other softwares that you have installed in your com that can't get along with XP clash, an example like i tried to install mcafee v7.0 pro on Xp it did perfectly but when i tried ton install zonealarm on the same pc its crewed up so try it.

This problem is within the Home and the Pro settings as pro is more to the higher end users interface and design . But it still comes back to what i had said as before the other softwares that cause the conflict.
