How to format 50GB partition as FAT32?

When I installed Windows XP Home, I partitioned my 80GB drive into three parts: a 15GB for windows, a 15GB for linux, and a 50GB for shared space: a place to put all of my files. I was able to format the linux partition, but when I try to use the "format" command on the 50gb partition as fat32, it says it's too big. I know I read somewhere that FAT32 can support 50GB partitions, but how can I format it? Is there some program I can download?

Thanks in advance.

You will need to use another utility such as Partition Magic or even a win9x boot disk. Format the drive normally and it is then usable in xp. XP has a 32 gig limitation on formatting drives as fat32; it can however use a drive >32 gig formatted as fat32 as long as it was done with another utility.

Boot from a W98 boot disk, FDISK and FORMAT. Piece of cake. W2K/XP will use it just fine, it just won't format it.

Huh?
XP has a 137 gig limit, not 32...nothing to do with FAT32 vs NTFS...I'm lost...to much incorrect information here.

Ok, the limit is on formatting a volume of >32 gig as fat32. If you try and format a volume from winxp or win2k that is >32, the only option as to file system is ntfs. XP and win2k can use a volume >32 formatted as fat32 as long as it is already formatted.

Ok, thanks for the replies.

Does anyone know where I could download a win98 boot disk? I don't have any systems running windows 98.

Thanks.

Here's one
http://www.bootdisk.com/

the first link, use win98 oem boot disk

i have maxtor 60gb and 80gb drives
I run win2kpro. i partitioned the 60gig as primary, 10gig ntfs for win and left the rest open.
afterwards i installed partition magic 8 and i did the 50 gig as fat32 and the 80gb drive as 2x 40gb fat32.
Partition magic seems be really good on this, it went in a jiffy, never had probs with it (also had it on a win98se pc)
i must say i really find it worth its money
